Once you are done with the entering of valuable data into your database, the next step is to make sure that you can use it as per your requirement. Perhaps you need to filter out a few subsets of that data or collect the sales data over a specific period. Well, such kind of operations can be easily carried out with the help of Microsoft Access Database.
MS Access enables you to create extremely powerful database systems. It is a vital element of MS Office Suite and is being extensively used by millions of home users as well as business owners around the globe.
The Access Databases application offers a rich array of amazing tools. These tools can be used for designing a simple database model as well as a multi-user network version. You can find administrative tools for all levels. Some of the most powerful tools include Access Security Module, Linked Manager Tool, Database Splitter, Relationship Window and many more.
Beginners might find Microsoft Access Software a little overwhelming. This is because of the large number of components and objects present in this application. MS Access includes codes, reports, macros, forms, tables and queries.
Within MS Access, a database is nothing more than a group of different data sets that are referred to as ‘Tables'. These tables are potentially interconnected and hence joined together. Because of the high flexibility and functionality of MS Access, it is very easy for a user to relate and join tables together by using this application. Tables are quite similar to containers, which are used for holding things. Tables are used for holding your valuable information.
Apart from the tables, MS Access offers forms that can be used for presenting the data in an organized manner. Users can make use of forms to type, amend or even remove information. Forms act like screens that can be used for both displaying information from as well as inputting information to the tables.
A query helps you in locating the information that you are looking for. Reports are used for output, which is further sent to the printer. You can also go for a small course that can help you in handling MS Access perfectly.

Userful MultiSeat Makes the $59 Desktop Possible
Here at PCMag, we review budget desktop PCs, and we've even built a $200 model. But if you want to find a desktop PC for probably the lowest price you've ever seen, Userful is making that possible with its new MultiSeat Linux virtualization software.
Intended primarily for schools and businesses that need to deploy lots of systems for very little money, Userful's software can turn one Linux system into 11 separate workstations—for as little as $59 each.
Setup involves plugging USB-based thin-client devices (including the HP t100, Wyse E01, Goodway DU2600, Atrust m200, MCT MWS 8820, and DisplayLink devices) into the single host PC; then attaching a monitor, keyboard, and mouse to each device; and installing the MultiSeat software. A user at a system may use different applications at the same time, and multiple users are supported—just like on any other desktop. The $59 price represents the cost per workstation for educational institutions.
MultiSeat is also available as part of a software bundle for schools that includes the Edubuntu Linux distribution, iTALC classroom computer management tool, OpenOffice.org office suite, Firefox, and subject-based applications for astronomy, chemistry, languages, mathematics, and more. Classroom computer management software is included to help teachers manage and monitor the individual workstations.
According to Userful, more than 50,000 schools worldwide are already using the MultiSeat software.
In a statement, Userful president Tim Griffin said, "Userful has been flying under the radar, quietly taking the world by storm. We've already done the world's largest ever desktop virtualization deployment, and one of the largest digital inclusion initiatives in the world. Userful is the perfect solution for anyone who wants the benefits of desktop virtualization, without the price tag. It's also lower cost than netbooks, and doesn't have the same concerns around recharging, durability, theft, e-waste, warranty, or small screen size."
Userful offers a free 90-day trial with 11 workstations for any department of education anywhere in the world. For more information, or to obtain trial licenses, visit Userful's Web site.

Simple Steps For Avoiding Microsoft Access Database Corruption
Whenever you get disconnected unexpectedly, a ‘corruption flag' might set up in the .mbd file, pointing towards the corruption of your database. During this situation, if any of the users try to open Microsoft Access Database, he/she receives a message, which states that the database needs to be repaired before the users can access it.
Now if the users is unaware about the repairing procedure or is not allowed to perform the repair, then this situation might consume some time before things are back to normal. This can result in extreme frustration and considerable loss of productivity as well. But why should such a situation arise? There are certain simple steps that can help in preventing your Access Databases from getting corrupted.
1. Splitting The Database: One of the best steps to avoid corruption in your database. Just split your database in two ends- front-end and back-end. You can make use of front-end for storing reports, forms and queries, whereas the other end can be utilized for keeping data tables. You can place a front-end's copy on the computer of each and every user and can store the back-end in the network's shared folder.
2. Do Not Keep Connections Open: This should be kept in mind not only by the user but by the programmer as well. As a programmer, you should always remember to close down all the connections, immediately after using them. Such connections if left opened can give way to an unanticipated dropped connection. Only those connections that are being used inside a loop are allowed to be left open for a little longer than actually required.
3. Correct Exit from Database: The user as well as the programmer should make sure to close an application or database in a correct manner. Actions like End Task/Ctrl-Del-Alt can be disastrous for your Access Database. Make sure to complete your tasks, before closing the applications.
4. Regular Use of Compact And Repair Function: The built-in function should be performed on regular basis in order to prevent your database from getting corrupted. Keep your eyes opened for any sort of error messages as they signal database corruption.

Windows 7 RTM was Never Released. Expected by July end.
here are lots of rumors from blogs and leaked torrents over the web, that claim RTM has been leaked. It’s all Fake! There was a confusion which is now cleared by Microsoft official, “Its’ not ready yet, How can it goto Manufacturers?”.
In actual what happened was, recently Microsoft bloggers were all excited about a build with build number 7600; seeing how previous builds were stuck in the 7200 range, bloggers proclaimed the leaked 7600 build as the RTM – ofcourse, without any confirmation from Microsoft.
To counter the confusion, Microsoft’s Brandon LeBlanc cleared it up, and he specifically stated that Windows 7 has not yet hit RTM.
The original RTM estimation from Microsoft is the second half of July, so they’ve still got more than one-two weeks to hit the milestone. LeBlanc further stated all the important upcoming dates when it comes to Windows 7′s release process. He also warns against leaked builds, stating that they might contain malware, and that you really shouldn’t believe everything written on the internet.
Here is a quote from WindowsTeamBlog highlighting Facts:
Windows 7 will be available in many languages from around the world. For us to consider RTM “done”, it requires that all languages be completely finished. So there is a lot of work that needs to take place for us to finalize all languages of Windows 7. We also need to get to a point of “global readiness” with our partners. Our partners being ready for Windows 7 is extremely important to RTM. As Steven Sinofsky mentions in this blog post in May, RTM isn’t a single point in time. It’s the beginning of the next “process” for Windows 7. At RTM our partners begin their final preparations for Windows 7, including testing and building images for new PCs. RTM is essentially the final “stage” of engineering for Windows 7 before it hits the market at General Availability (GA). As Steven notes, engineering continues on Windows 7 from RTM until GA on October 22nd.
Another thing to keep in mind is that when we do a specific build internally of Windows 7 we have an extensive step-by-step validation process to ensure quality. This process takes time. Just because a single build may have “leaked” it does not signal the completion of a milestone such as RTM. As always, don’t believe everything that you read on the Internet – except this post ;-) .
This is the first time in history that Microsoft responded to “Leaked Rumors”. Earlier to this, they always were silent.

Microsoft Rolls Out Minor Update to Windows Phone 7, No Cut and Paste Just Yet
Microsoft on Monday started rolling out an update to Windows Phone 7 devices, though it is not the larger update promised by Steve Ballmer during his CES keynote that will include features like cut and paste.
"This update is a relatively small one," Microsoft said in a blog post.
Monday's update - the first for the platform - "is designed to improve the software update process itself," Microsoft said. "So while it might not sound exciting, it's still important because it's paving the way for all future goodie-filled updates to your phone, such as copy and paste or improved Marketplace search."
Microsoft will send out the update in waves. When it hits your phone, the device will display a message that says a software update is available. Connect the phone to your PC or Mac and follow the on-screen instructions. Users that installed the Zune software or Windows Phone 7 Connector might have to update that program first and then use it to update the phone.
In January, Ballmer said the first major Windows Phone 7 update will add two components: cut and paste; and improved app performance when loading and switching apps. Customers can expect to see apps and games that load even faster, he said.

Nintendo Wii Sales Down 31.5 Percent from January 2010
January has just not been a pleasant month for video game sales. At least, that's according to new numbers released by NPD. Total January 2011 sales for gaming accessories, portable systems, and games for PCs and consoles fell to $1.16 billion from last year's total of $1.22 billion. And the $1.22 billion figure for January 2010 is itself a decrease from January 2009 figures, or $1.33 billion in total sales.
Breaking that number out a bit, hardware sales took the biggest year-to-year hit, dropping 8 percent from $353.7 million in January 2010 to $324 million in January 2011. NPD no longer splits this number out into publicly available data for the various console manufacturers; however, Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter said that Microsoft was the only big player to experience year-to-year growth on hardware sales.
According to Pachter, Microsoft sold approximately 332,800 Xbox 360 units, representing a year-to-year growth of 14.4 percent for the company. More than half of the systems sold were also bundled with Microsoft's Kinect accessory.
Nintendo, on the other hand, found its sales down 31.5 percent compared to the same period of time last year. That's a drop from 465,800 Wii consoles sold in January 2010 to 319,000 sold in January 2011. The company still leads the current console market with 34.5 million Wii units sold in the U.S., in total, with Microsoft's Xbox 360 coming in second place at 25.8 million, followed by Sony's PlayStation 3 at 15.7 million.
The PlayStation 3 experienced slight drops in sales between January 2010 and January 2011, only losing 3 percent of its total between the two years—276,900 consoles sold in January 2010 versus 267,000 in 2011.
Overall software sales also took a hit between the two compared years, dropping off 5 percent in total sales from January 2010's $606.8 million to January 2011's $576 million. The top game (physical media only) remained Activision Blizzard's "Call of Duty: Black Ops," which debuted (and shot to the top of the charts) in November of last year.
Accessory sales for videogame consoles were the bright light in NPD's monthly analysis. Sales increased a total of 8 percent from January 2010's $222.8 million to January 2011's $235.1 million. While there's no official split as to how the two biggest contributors to this total fared—Microsoft's Kinect and Sony's Move—Pachter notes that Kinect-based software titles outsold similar Move-friendly titles for the PS3, and Microsoft's console/accessory bundles outsold Sony's by a ratio of five to one.

Egyptian Man Names Daughter 'Facebook'
I suppose we'll never see a MySpace Smith or a Quora Doe (unless it's in a first-person sci-fi shooter on a gaming console), but Facebook can now add yet another "first" to its already impressive series of accomplishments: First child.
Facebook didn't have a baby. Rather, the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram is reporting that 20-something Jamal Ibrahim has decided to name his daughter "Facebook" Jamal Ibrahim in honor of the service that helped anti-government protests overthrow Egyptian dictator Muhammad Hosni Sayyid Mubarak.
"The girl's family, friends, and neighbors in the Ibrahimya region gathered around the new born to express their continuing support for the revolution that started on Facebook," reads an English translation of the paper as supplied by TechCrunch. "'Facebook' received many gifts from the youth who were overjoyed by her arrival and the new name-a name that shocked the entire world."
Although Facebook wasn't the only service in use by Egyptians during the roughly three weeks of protests within the country, it's certainly the service that's received the most widespread follow-up in the aftermath. Roughly 5 million of the country's citizens have active Facebook accounts, and the company saw more than 32,000 different groups and 14,000 new pages pop up on the service within approximately the last two weeks of January.
And that even includes a new page for Egypt's current ruling organization, the Supreme Council of the armed forces—launched, "as part of our belief that fruitful cooperation with Egyptian youth in the coming period will surely lead to the security and stability for our beloved Egypt," said Field Marshal and interim Egyptian leader Hussein Tantawi.
We have yet to hear reports of anyone naming children "Twitter" in support of that service's use during international protests. For what it's worth, the aforementioned Supreme Council of the armed forces doesn't even have its own Twitter page yet, let alone namesake.
During a keynote at Mobile World Congress, Twitter CEO Dick Costolo said that focusing on whether Twitter, Facebook, or other social-networking services were responsible for the successful uprising in Egypt takes away from what the people in that region accomplished.

Nokia and Microsoft: 10 Years in Smartphones
Nokia adopting Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 means two companies with very long smartphone histories are coming together. Nokia came out with its first Communicator smartphone in 1996. The first Pocket PC Phone surfaced in 2002, but it was preceded by a long line of Microsoft-powered PDAs.
Since then, the two companies' fortunes have waxed and waned. Nokia had a huge overall market share in the U.S. up until about 2004, when it entered a steady decline. Microsoft's Windows Mobile was our favorite smartphone OS until the iPhone got apps in mid-2008. Windows Phone 7 put Microsoft back in the game. Now it may bring Nokia back to the U.S., too.

How to Set Up a Virtualization Server
If there's one technology that can greatly improve computing environments of any size, it's virtualization. By using a single physical server to run many virtual servers, you can decrease operational costs and get far more bang for your buck. Whether your company is a 2-server or 2000-server shop, you can benefit from server virtualization in a variety of ways. The best part? You can do it cheaply and easily.
The reasons to virtualize even a small infrastructure come down to ease of administration and cost reductions. Cost reductions come from cutting down the number of physical servers, thus reducing the power and cooling requirements, but they also come in the form of greatly reduced expansion. Rather than having to purchase new hardware to support a new business application, all you need to do is add a new virtual server.
If your business has only a single server, virtualization isn't likely to buy you much, but if you have more than two servers or if you plan on expanding anytime soon, virtualization can likely make a difference.
It's impossible to purchase a server today that isn't multicore, but many small-business server requirements simply don't call for that much horsepower. The end result is a relatively expensive server that does very little but still consumes power and generates heat. That's why using a multicore server--that is, a server that has 4, 6, or 12 processing cores on a single CPU--to host several virtual servers makes sense, no matter what size your company is.
The Host Server
The key to successfully virtualizing servers in a smaller environment starts with the physical host server, the box that will run multiple virtual servers. Even though this one server will be responsible for hosting possibly dozens of virtual servers, it will require far fewer CPU resources than you might assume.
Depending on the virtualization software in use--VMware, Microsoft's Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer, or another package--you will likely be able to run a surprising number of virtual servers on a four- or six-core CPU. The reason is that generally most servers run near idle a significant portion of the time. When they are tasked with work, their resources tend to be spread out among the RAM, CPU, disk, and network input/output, with only a subset of the virtual servers actually requiring significant CPU resources. By taking advantage of this law of averages, you can consolidate a considerable number of physical servers onto a single host server.
That isn't a hard and fast rule, however. Some servers, such as database servers, run heavier loads on a more consistent basis, and may not be suitable candidates for virtualization in a smaller infrastructure. It all depends on the hardware resources available to the host server, on the virtualization software features, and on the requirements of the virtual server. Fortunately, setting up and testing these requirements beforehand isn't difficult.
The first order of business when approaching a small virtualization project is to choose the hardware. Generally you'll start out with only a single server, so try to get the best mix of resources possible within budget.
A good rule of thumb is that having more cores in the host server trumps higher clock speeds, so if you have a choice between a 4-core CPU running at 2.93GHz and a 6- or 12-core CPU running at 2.4GHz, you'll be better off with the latter option. That's because the capability to spread the virtual-server load across more CPU cores typically translates into faster, more consistent performance across all the virtual machines. Think of it as needing a dump truck (which isn't that fast) instead of a sports car (which is faster but can haul far less than the dump trunk can).
RAM and Storage
Once you make the CPU decision, the next area to consider is RAM. Virtualization host machines can always use more RAM, so get as much as you can, and select the fastest RAM possible. It's relatively straightforward to oversubscribe CPU resources--or allocate more virtual CPUs to the virtual servers than physically exist within the host server--but it's far more difficult to oversubscribe RAM. The more RAM you have available, the more virtual machines you'll be able to run.
That's especially true if you're running certain hypervisors (which are responsible for managing all virtual servers) that do not offer shared memory features. Some require that a fixed amount of RAM be presented to each virtual server, and that the RAM is allocated in its entirety. Other, more advanced setups can determine when identical memory segments are present in multiple virtual servers and map that memory accordingly, allowing more RAM to be allocated to the virtual servers than exists within the host. Either way, always go for more RAM when possible.
The third factor to consider is storage. In smaller environments you may not have a storage area network (SAN) or a network attached storage (NAS) device to hold the virtual server images, so the host server will be responsible for the task. In that case, more disks are better, within reason. For general purposes, SATA drives in a RAID 5 or RAID 6 array will suffice, although SAS drives will always provide increased performance. If at all possible, ensure that the physical server has a RAID controller that supports RAID 5 or RAID 6, and plan your storage accordingly.

Microsoft Adds Phony E-Mail to Your Hotmail Account
Microsoft is updating the server version of its Windows operating system to give the OS more virtualization capabilities.
The company has posted a release candidate, a post-beta-but-not-yet-production-ready version of Service Pack 1 for Windows Server 2008 R2. The service pack can also be applied to Windows 7 as well. This service pack is a compilation of previously released updates, as well as, in the case of Windows Server, a number of new features.
The new Windows Server Service Pack will feature a number of new technologies to help organizations virtualize both their servers and desktop OSes. Virtualization allows administrators to run multiple virtual servers on a single physical server, as well as stream a desktop operating system to a user machine instead of maintaining it on the local machine.
For the client side, the service pack offers RemoteFX, Microsoft's next-generation remote desktop protocol. Based on Microsoft's Hyper-V hypervisor, RemoteFX can be used to serve graphics-intensive applications and USB support to thin clients or desktop computers.
On the server side, SP1 includes Dynamic Memory, which should allow servers to more efficiently manage how memory is allotted out to the virtual machines they run.
"With Dynamic Memory, IT administrators are able to pool available memory on a physical host and then dynamically dole that memory out to virtual machines running on the host, based on current workload needs," explained the Microsoft Web page where the service pack can be downloaded.
In addition to the virtualization aids, the release candidate also includes a number of other goodies for Windows Server, according to a white paper found on the Microsoft site.
To enhance remote management, a new version of PowerShell, version 2.0, is provided. This software, among other things, will allow administrators to run multiple scripts simultaneously on a single machine, or across multiple machines. Active Directory domains now have their own Recycle Bins, which an administrator can use to restore an accidentally deleted object. The software also includes power management features that can reduce power consumption of hard drives and solid state disks.
The final, full production release of SP 1 will be released within the first quarter of 2011, Microsoft promised.

How to use LinkedIn strategically
I think a lot of people think of LinkedIn as just a more staid version of social networking. And I think the gainfully employed often neglect their LinkedIn pages in favor of its more scintillating cousin, Facebook. After all, would you rather hear who a former colleague is now connected to or read trash-talking among your Facebook friends?
Okay, maybe that’s just me.
The fact is, LinkedIn is a great tool for what are perhaps the most important aspects of searching for a job-networking and online presence. And with the addition of some new LinkedIn apps, these have become tasks have become even easier to do.
First of all, you can put your work profile up there for the world to see. While you still should send targeted resumes for positions you want to apply for, LinkedIn gives everyone a snapshot of your capabilities. So if a potential employer is just looking around before he or she even posts an opening, you’re out there. Here are some tips for using LinkedIn to its greatest advantage:
Avoid overused keywords just as you would on a resume
LinkedIn late last year released its top 10 overused buzzwords used in U.S. member-profiles. Avoid:
* extensive experience
* innovative
* motivated
* results-oriented
* dynamic
* proven track record
* team-player
* fast-paced
* problem-solver
* entrepreneurial
Take advantage of new LinkedIn apps
I found three apps that I think are invaluable:
WordPress
This app will synch your WordPress blog posts automatically with your profile. It offers a filtering option if you don’t want to share every entry with your LinkedIn connections-you can just use a special LinkedIn tag.
Events
The Events application adds a box to your profile that shows what events people in your network are attending. This helps you find events based on your industry and job function. You can sort by most popular events, search for events, and create new ones.
SlideShare Presentations
With this app, you can share presentations and documents with your LinkedIn network and upload portfolios, resume, conference talks, PDFs, marketing/sales presentations. If you’re really adventuresome, you can upload a video of yourself.

Access the real Administrator account in Windows 7
As you know, the User Account Control (UAC) system is the heart and soul of the security system in Microsoft Windows 7. It is designed to protect your system from inadvertent or malicious incidents that could compromise stability or security while you are logged on using an account with administrative privileges, where you have full access to the system. Of course, you can perform administrative operations simply by working through the UAC prompt. Or, if you totally dislike the UAC system, you can also easily disable it. For example, you can select the Never Notify setting on the User Account Control Setting window.
However, there certainly are times when it would just be nice to log on to your Windows 7 system with a good old-fashioned, full-fledged Administrator account. When you do, you’ll never encounter a UAC prompt.
In this edition of the Windows Desktop Report, I’ll explain how you can activate and use the real Administrator account in Windows 7.
This blog post is also available as a TechRepublic Photo Gallery and TechRepublic download.
Caveat
Now keep in mind that Microsoft has gone to great lengths to prevent you from using the real Administrator account and, as you can imagine, strongly discourages the technique I’m about to show you here. As such, I must emphasize that you should use the real Administrator account very sparingly — never make it your default modus operandi! With that being said, I also have to warn you that you use this technique at your own risk.
Activating the account
While you might think that since Microsoft discourages the use of Windows 7’s Administrator account, it is hidden deep within the bowels of the operating system. However, that’s not the case at all. In fact, to find the Administrator account you have to look no further than the Local Users and Groups tool.
To begin, open the Start menu, right-click the Computer icon, and select Manage from the context menu. When you see the Computer Management console, go to the navigation panel on the left and click the arrow next to Local Users and Groups to expand the branch. Then, click the Users folder. At this point you can see and select the Administrator account, as shown in Figure A.
Figure A
Select the Administrator account.
With the Administrator account selected, click More Actions under Administrator in the Actions panel on the right and select Properties from the menu, as shown in Figure B.
Figure B
Use the More Actions menu to access the Properties command.
When you see the Administrator Properties dialog box, just clear the Account Is Disabled check box, as shown in Figure C, and click OK.
Figure C
The Administrator account is disabled by default.
Keep in mind that now that the Administrator Account is activated you can also work with the account in the User Accounts tool in the Control Panel.
Setting the password
By default, the Administrator account has a blank password, so the first order of business after activating the account is to set a password — preferably a complex password consisting of at least eight characters and using uppercase, lowercase, and numbers or special symbols.
With the Administrator account selected, click More Actions under Administrator in the Actions panel and select the Set Password command. You will be shown a warning that explains that resetting a password from outside the account itself can cause irreversible loss of information, as shown in Figure D.
Figure D
When you select the Set Password command, you will see this warning.
However, since the Administrator Account has never been used, you can click Proceed with impunity. When you do, you’ll see the Set Password for Administrator dialog box, shown in Figure E, and can type the new password in both text boxes. Then, click OK.
Figure E
You will be prompted to type the password for the Administrator account.

Logging in as the Administrator
Now that you’ve activated the Administrator Account and set the password, using the account is as simple as logging off. When the Log Off operation completes, you’ll see the Welcome screen and a user icon for the Administrator Account, as shown in Figure F. To log on as the Administrator, just click the icon and provide the correct password.
Figure F
You will now see the Administrator account on the Welcome page.
When you do, you’ll never encounter a UAC prompt. Again, I must emphasize that you should use the real Administrator account sparingly and never make it your default mode of operation!
What’s your take?
As you can see, it’s a relatively easy operation to activate the real Administrator account in Windows 7 once you know the technique. Now that you know how it’s done, are you likely to use the Administrator account? Have you disabled UAC? If so, do you think that you’ll re-enable it and use this technique instead? As always, if you have comments or information to share about this topic, please take a moment to drop by the TechRepublic Community Forums and let us hear from you.

The most popular Windows Blog tips of 2010
While 2010 was the first full year of Microsoft Windows 7, the previous versions of that operating system still have an integral role to play in many enterprises. Consequently, many of 2010’s most popular Windows Blog tips deal with Windows XP and Windows Vista.
Product key
The one topic that TechRepublic members never seem to tire of is the Windows product key. Of the top 10 or so Windows-related tips appearing on TechRepublic, regardless of year published, three deal with this topic.
In the 2003 article “A Workaround to XP Installs when the Product Key Is Missing,” we explain how to discover the product key using an application known as ViewKeyXP. The amazing thing about the popularity of this article is that the ViewKeyXP application no longer works as of SP2.
An updated explanation was published in 2006, ”Find a Lost Windows Product Key.” In this article, Jason Hiner explains how to find a lost product key using several different methods. My preference is the Belarc Advisor utility.
In 2009, I wrote an updated Windows Blog post on this topic, “How Do I Change the Product Key in Windows XP? (Updated).” This post explained how to use a tool from Microsoft that allows you to change the product key associated with a Windows installation.
This should go without saying, but from the e-mails we get during the course of a year it apparently does need to be said in no uncertain terms. All these product key applications are for the legitimate and necessary maintenance of a VALID, AUTHENTICATED, and PAID FOR installation of Windows. TechRepublic does not condone the use of pirated software, so please don’t send me an e-mail asking for a Windows product key.

Recovery disk
In 2008, Greg Shultz wrote a blog post with the title “Creating a Windows Vista Recovery CD.” In it he explained how a website, NeoSmart Files, provides ISO images of Windows Recovery CDs. Greg’s blog post concerned Windows Vista, but Neosmart has other ISO images available.
Bootable USB drives
Another perennial favorite topic, and one of the more popular Windows topics in 2010, was the bootable Windows XP USB flash memory drive. Two articles on this topic made the 10 most popular tips for the year, “Illustrated Walk-Through: Creating a Bootable USB Flash Drive for Windows XP” (2007) and “SolutionBase: Boot Windows XP from a USB Flash Drive” (2005).
File extensions
When I first wrote this article in 2007, I did not expect it to generate much interest, but boy was I wrong. The title “How Do I Change File Extension Associations in Windows Vista?” seems very fundamental for Windows users, but apparently there is a continuous need for an explanation on how to perform this maintenance task.
Remote desktop
Another surprising article was popular in 2010, “Launching Remote Desktop from the Command Line in Windows XP Pro.” There is an extraordinary interest in how to script a remote desktop connection. Windows XP’s remote desktop connection has an executable file that can accept command-line parameters and be run from a batch file.
Windows 7
The most popular Windows 7 tip of 2010 was “Put the Classic Start Menu in Windows 7 with Classic Shell.” It appears that there are many TechRepublic members who prefer the old look and feel of Windows XP and not the default configuration of Windows 7. Change, especially with something as integral to our professional lives as the PC, can be traumatic. However, I greatly prefer Windows 7 to any previous version of Windows, and I have adapted to the new user interface without too much difficulty. I wonder if this tendency to look back at XP for a preferred interface is merely a passing phase.

Google Maps comes to WP7 via homebrew
Despite Microsoft's attempt to put the kibosh on the homebrew scene for Windows Phone 7, it appears the community is still going strong. One of the main purposes for homebrew is to include features the user wants, but the vendor will not provide. One such feature
that many users want, despite what Microsoft may allow, is the ability to use Google Maps on their device.

Windows Phone 7 does come with Bing maps, but for some, that is not enough. Coder group, TechAutos has brought Google Maps to Windows Phone 7 via the ChevronWP7 unlocker. The application, TAMaps, "taps into the Google Maps API to deliver basic functionality such as scrolling and zooming and location tracking via GPS, but lacks other features like address and POI searches, the ability to calculate directions, and support for bookmarking favorite places", according to Pocketnow.com
The group claims that the maps feature is only there to hold users over until Google releases its own official map application. For those looking to install the application, you must use the ChevronWP7 tool or be a developer. But if you are new to the scene, finding the ChevronWP7 tool may be an issue, as the developers have pulled the certificate needed for the application to work.
As always, anytime you jailbreak, root, unlock, you may void your warranty and could possibly brick your device.
