First Windows 8 Details Leak
While Microsoft was able to keep Windows 7 under a cone of silence for much of that product's development, its successor, Windows 8, has already suffered from its first major leak. And if the leaked internal Microsoft documents are any indication, Windows 8 will be a major release with major functional changes, some of which have been inspired by recent trends in the web and mobile markets MCTS Training.
Among the changes coming is a new application platform modeled after web apps. These next generation Windows apps will be resolution independent and will scale functionally depending on the capabilities of the underlying device. Microsoft will support these Windows 8 apps with a new apps store, currently called Windows Store, that will provide instant app installation and launching, and a new automatic setting synchronization system so that apps always work the same and follow users from device to device.
Windows 8 will also ship with Internet Explorer 9—the documents say a public beta can be expected in August 2010, though the final release, which will happen before Windows 8, is to be determined. Concurrently, Microsoft will deliver Windows Live wave 5; the wave 4 release is shipping this year, with the final pieces in place by October MCITP Certification.
There's a lot more to these leaked documents, but I've got a full write-up about the Windows 8 leak on the SuperSite for Windows if you want to learn more.

Syngress Has A Book For The 70-620 Exam
Syngress Has A Book For The 70-620 Exam
My friend Mark passed the 70-620 Exam today with a score of 907.We can share his experience as following.
I used the Microsoft Press Study guide and the Certkingdom exam simulation software. I also used the exam simulation software that came with the Microsoft
Press book a little bit.
Before I went to the test center this morning and noticed that Syngress has a book for the 70-620 exam. I looked through it and it looked to be a much
better book than the Microsoft Press book. The MS Press book was extremely tedious and disorganized to me. I think different people have different book
preferences and some people will like a book while others will hate it so its hard to say objectively if a resource is good or not. With that said, after
having read the MS Press 70-620 book I recommend trying the Syngress book for 70-620 first. The Microsoft Press book does not give you an evaluation copy of
Vista even though some sources say it does (Syngress doesn't either but I mistakenly though the Microsoft Press did and was disappointed).
The Certkingdom was much more difficult than the actual exam. The exam wasn't all that difficult. It had 58 questions and I did it in about an hour.
So in summary, if you are preparing to take the 70-620 exam, I recommend that you study the Syngress book and use the Certkingdom if you can. If you get
something wrong on the Certkingdom, really study the explanation and understand it. They include hyperlinks in the explanations that will help. Don't be
discouraged if the Certkingdom blows you out of the water at first. After having usedthe Certkingdom and the Measure Up software that came with the Microsoft
book, I thought I was walking into a bloodbath but it wasn't like that at all.
MCITP Certification is a latest certification on the Windows Vista technology. The MCTS: Windows
Vista,Configuration certification has been designed for professionals who have a thorough knowledge in installing, managing and configuring Windows Vista
including new features such as security, network, and applications.
The MCTS Training is also available on Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and.NET 2.0.
Getting 70-620 is easy. Some companies have partnership with certain Prometric and Pearson VUE testing centres.
This partnership facilitates those people that are interested to have their exams completed by proxy. This means that when they have received the basic
candidate information they can complete any exam for anybody. And you will get certified. You can get your money back, if they do not pass your exams.

Honey, We Shrunk The Chip Again! Or Did We?
Honey, We Shrunk The Chip Again! Or Did We?
Moore’s Law has always been a mystical but achievable mantra in the semiconductor world. But a development at HP Labs could outpace Moore’s Law by more than three times! We take a closer look at HP’s new field programmable nanowire interconnect.
In January 2007, HP announced the findings of its ongoing research that could result in chips eight times denser than today’s versions. This, in a way, signifies HP’s out-pacing the predictions of Moore’s Law, an observation made in 1965 by Gordon Moore of Intel to the effect that every 18 months, the number of transistors that could be packed into a chip would double. This was achieved mainly by reducing the size of transistors. However, researchers felt that this could not apply beyond an extent, as packing more and smaller transistors closely into chips would lead to high energy dissipation, heating, consumption and so on… simple physics.
So, when the laws of physics and that of Moore’s cross swords, which will win? Well, perhaps HP. The company’s recent research has opened up the possibility of creating field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) up to eight times denser than the current generation, using the same transistor size, and also consuming less energy per computation.
Field programmable gate arrays are chips that can be adapted for specific end-user applications, as these integrated circuits are made with programmable logic components and interconnects. They are used widely in industries such as communications and consumer electronics. Therefore, denser FPGAs would mean more power to these industries – hence the buzz around HP’s announcement.
Under the FPNI hood
According to HP, eight times denser FPGAs are possible thanks to an architecture it developed called field programmable nanowire interconnect (FPNI). This is a variation of normal FPGA technology and has a nanoscale crossbar switch structure layered on top of conventional CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductors). Here, all logic operations are performed in the CMOS, while the signal routing in the circuit is done by a crossbar placed above the transistor layer. In conventional FPGAs, around 80-90 per cent of the CMOS is used for signal routing. Since that is removed to the crossbar layer in this technology, the circuit is much more efficient with a higher density of transistors being available for performing logic operations. The electrical power required for signal routing is also much lesser MCTS Training.
As explained by Stan Williams of HP Labs in an official press release: “As conventional chip electronics continue to shrink, Moore’s Law is on a collision course with the laws of physics. Excessive heating and defective device operation arise at the nanoscale. What we’ve been able to do is combine conventional CMOS technology with nanoscale switching devices in a hybrid circuit to increase effective transistor density, reduce power dissipation, and dramatically improve tolerance to defective devices.”
The research is in the simulation stage now, but HP hopes to have a lab prototype ready within a year. Manufacturing of actual chips using this approach should not be difficult, according to HP, since the same transistor size is used, enabling current generation manufacturing techniques and infrastructure to be used, with slight modifications. Don’t let your hopes rise too high though, because the technology is expected to be commercially available only in 2010 and, that too, using only 15-nanometre-wide crossbar wires. Smaller 4.5-nanometre-wide wires are expected to be available around 2020.
Moore continues to buzz
In a technical paper titled “Nano/CMOS Architectures Using Field-Programmable Nanowire Interconnect” describing the technology, HP Labs researchers Greg Snider and Stan Williams wrote: “Placing a level of intelligence and configurability in the interconnect can have a profound effect on integrated circuit performance and can be used to significantly extend Moore’s Law without having to shrink the transistors.”
(The complete research paper can be found at www.iop.org/journals/nano, while the press release can be found at http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/press/2007/070116a.html)
If HP succeeds in fabricating this chip, it would mean skipping three ‘Moore generations.’ Not surprisingly, the media has been more interested about the possible outpacing of Moore’s Law than about the actual technology developed by HP. But some level-headed scientists feel this is more hype than breakthrough.
In fact, Gordon Haff, a chip analyst and principal IT advisor at Illuminata, cut through the Moore’s Law hype in Red Herring, saying: “Moore’s Law is essentially an observation about the rate of increasing density in processor technology and processor design, so it’s not an absolute law in any sense. A variety of techniques have been used over the past decades to essentially increase transistor density at a rate that is often called Moore’s Law. It’s a number that has varied a bit up and down over the years but has been relatively constant. There is a constant ongoing advance to increase transistor density coming from any number of people Microsoft MCITP Certification.”
Law? What law?: Experts speak
Professor M. Balakrishnan of the department of computer science and engineering, IIT-Delhi, sides with Haff in playing down the Moore’s Law hype, saying that it is not an absolute law of physics, just a visionary statement on the trend microelectronics would follow. His comments on the technology itself, based on what he considers inadequate information in the press release, are to the effect that using the FPGA transistor size would simply not make the device smaller or the density higher. You would get the same density as those of FPGAs. “If programmable interconnects are being used (on a different layer), details have to be seen to find out how it is still faster and cooler. Also, FPGAs compare unfavourably both in power and performance at present. It is their cost of production in low volumes that makes them an attractive technology option,” he adds.
Dr Srinivas Katkoori, associate professor, CSE department, University of South Florida, Tampa, USA, too agrees wholeheartedly with Haff’s observation that Moore's Law is not a law of physics. “The semiconductor industry uses Moore's Law more as a marketing tool than anything else. While Gordon Moore of Intel has empirically found a relationship that states that the transistor density doubles every 18 months or so, there is no reason why we should stick to this rate nor should we bend our backs to satisfy this ‘law’,” says Katkoori. “Instead we should try to push the technology limit to pack as many transistors as possible in the same chip area; thus the rate could be double, triple, quadruple, or whatever factor that the technology entails.”
And more hype…about nanotechnology
Another term that seems to be much in vogue today is ‘nanotechnology’ and, obviously, that is another portion of HP’s press release that the media is feeding on. Haff, who seems to have been on a bubble-bursting spree, has commented in the Red Herring report: “At some level, everything in modern processor development is nanotechnology by some definition, and all modern processor technology is CMOS technology at the nanometre scale.”
According to Katkoori, as of today, the CMOS technology node is in nanometres (70nm and below) and purely going by the scale of its dimensions—nanometres—it can be referred to as ‘nanotechnology’. But the usage of the word ‘nanotechnology’ as intended by Richard Feynman is to work at the nanoscale of matter to realise computing elements. Carbon nanotubes seem to be a promising technology and falls into this interpretation
of nanotechnology. However, carbon nanotube development is still in a nascent stage.
“From my understanding of the state-of-the-art of the carbon nanotube technology, arrived at through personal communication with colleagues working actively in this field, I learnt that there are mainly two roadblocks: lack of repeatability of nanotubes and the inability to precisely control nanotube arrays. Both these roadblocks come in the way of the mass manufacturing of nanosystems,” says Katkoori. “From reading the press coverage about HP’s new technology, it looks like HP is combining CMOS technology (transistors) and nanotechnology (interconnect) to realise a hybrid technology.”
“While I do not completely know the details of the technology underlying HP's claim, in principle, it should be possible for nanowires to replace the traditional metal-based interconnect fabric and thus facilitate much higher transistor density. If this is indeed possible, then it a great breakthrough, in which case we need not restrict it to FPGA technology. FPGAs traditionally have lower transistor density as well as speed than that of dedicated ASICs (Application Specific ICs). If HP's claim is indeed true, then they must have succeeded in overcoming the above two roadblocks… did they?” questions Katkoori.
We’ll have to wait for HP to be more forthcoming with details on this. Till then, well, speculation it shall be!

The Age Of IT Technology
The leaps and bounds by which the IT industry has expanded has also affected the growth of another giant industry that mints money from barrels - the multi-million dollar oil and gas industry. We take a closer look at the relationship between IT and the fluid the world calls 'black gold'.
Historically, oil has affected almost everything from world politics and economies, to lifestyles. But oil has become an increasingly expensive commodity today, with prices spiralling upwards, as the supply surges southward and the demand northward. Needless to say, oil and gas companies have their hands full in trying to cope with this situation. And helping them cope and even enhance productivity, is IT. Â
Big Blue to the rescue
The company that the world knows as Big Blue is offering a number of solutions to the oil and energy sector. To begin with, the IBM PowerXCell 8i processor, originally developed for next-generation gaming consoles, is today powering the IBM BladeCenter QS22 supercomputers, which helps the industry to search oil fields much faster than existing technology for eg Microsoft MCTS Training.
A sophisticated imaging technology known as Reverse Time Migration (RTM) is used by Repsol, one of the 10 major private oil companies in the world, and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) for oil exploration. RTM is, however, limited by its processing speed. Here, the IBM PowerXCell 8i has come to the rescue with its unparalleled speed for imaging algorithms. In fact, it has led to the development of a new class of seismic technology that enables locating oil reserves at 30,000 feet (of which 20,000 feet is below the water surface of 10,000 feet). Experts are foreseeing a revolution in exploration comparable to that in medical imaging technologies, such as MRIs, that today routinely provide detailed images from inside the body. Indeed, such simulations will help companies make significant headway in locating previously unknown energy reserves, which is the need of the hour.
Another area where IBM plays an active role is in its solution for an 'intelligent oilfield'. An intelligent oilfield is a collaborative environment for communication, data collection, reporting and monitoring, knowledge and information sharing. IBM offers an integrated approach that combines five key components for an intelligent oilfield (see box) MCITP Certification.
In the IBM executive brief, in a document titled 'The intelligent oilfield: Meeting the challenges of today's oil and gas exploration and production industry', there is a paragraph that sums up the role of technology in making an efficient oilfield. It says: "Innovations in various technologies are helping people make the intelligent oilfield a reality. For example, massive amounts of sensor data are being delivered to skilled people who then remotely search the data, convert it to usable knowledge and use it via advanced visualisation technology, avoiding cumbersome data stores and transmission by allowing raw data to remain at the source. This helps analysts automatically detect complex data patterns/problems such as sand production in wells, so the right person can be alerted to initiate a response before a problem occurs. Visualisation, modelling and analytics make it easier for decision makers to understand a wealth of complex information, which can lead to improved oil and gas reservoir management."
IBM also offers SAP and RFID solutions for petroleum and energy companies. Companies like HP are also trying to offer such viable solutions.

How DNSSEC Dethroned DNS!
Here's a behind the scenes peek at how vulnerable the trusted Domain Name System really was! And what we can expect from its successor.
DNS, the good old domain name system protocol, is undergoing a major change. What has worked well for thirty years is now vulnerable and no longer safe. DNSSEC (domain name system security extensions) is a new protocol that verifies DNS messages with a digital signature. A new consortium, the DNSSEC Industry Coalition, has been formed recently to work hard for wider adoption of this new protocol MCTS Training.
But, DNSSEC is not new--in the sense that it was not conceived recently. It was developed more than 14fourteen years back, but never gained popularity due to the increased overheads and additional processing needed, and the complexity involved. Additionally, there was no real need to adopt it. But, an accidental discovery last year, of a fundamental flaw in the design of the basic DNS protocol, resulted in the revival of DNSSEC. Though the flaw in DNS was fixed, it was felt that it is only a short-term solution and DNSSEC would be the best way forward.
Knowing DNS
The domain name system maps the URLs (uniform resource locator) to the IP (Internet protocol) addresses. When a user types a URL, the request is processed by the Web server. If that Web server has the IP address corresponding to that URL (retained from an earlier request by another user), then it directs the request to the server with that IP address; else, it directs the request to a name server (which maintains the IP addresses for different URLs) maintained by the ISP (Internet service provider). If this name server also does not have the IP address, then it contacts the 13 DNS root servers, one of which will direct the request to the name server that handles the top-level domains, like .org or .net. That server in turn forwards the request to the server specific to a single domain name, such as npr.org. This forwarding continues until a server that has the IP address corresponding to the complete URL is found. If no server has the IP address, then the message, "Address not found" is sent as the response. Paul Mockapetris developed this system in 1983.
The flaw that unseatedttled DNS
Dan Kaminsky, who was the then director of penetration testing at IOActive, a company in Seattle that specialises in security related problems, was researching a good way to stream videos. It was pure serendipity that a flaw in DNS was exposed.
Each name server keeps the IP address corresponding to a URL for a specified time (known as Time To Live or TTL) in its cache. Large sites have multiple servers distributed across the globe so that users are directed to the content server nearest to them. Kaminsky wanted to bypass the TTL value and have the server request an IP each time, so that different Web servers would respond and load would be balanced. It was during this ‘experiment' that he found that bypassing TTL would expose DNS to many types of attacks. Kaminsky demonstrated that it would give attackers nearly infinite chances to redirect requests intended to a legitimate server, to their own fake servers. Apart from this, the fact that almost every network uses DNS made this vulnerability extremely serious and warranted an immediate solution MCITP Certification.
The fix for the flaw
There is an interesting history behind how this very dangerous vulnerability was fixed. After discovering it, Kaminsky immediately contacted Paul Vixie, president of the Internet Systems Consortium. Both of them secretly convened a meeting of top DNS experts in the world at the Microsoft headquarters in Redmond. This team included experts from the US government, and major hardware and software manufacturers such as Cisco. It was so secretive that in Kaminsky's own words, "There were people on jets to Microsoft who didn't even know what the bug was." The group discussed the vulnerability and the method to fix it. They also decided to release the patch on July 8, 2008. It was only about a month later that Kaminsky spoke publicly about the flaw at the Black Hat Conference in Las Vegas on August 6, 2008.
The rise of DNSSEC!
Though the flaw was fixed, it was not considered a long-term solution. Hence, DNSSEC was adopted. It involves using digital signatures to verify DNS messages. Here is what it entails and how it works. DNSSEC, which that stands for DNS Security Extensions, ensures both the authenticity of the server responding to the DNS request and the integrity of the data while in transit. To achieve this, the basic DNS protocol has been modified with four new resource records (RR).
RRSIG - Resource Record Signature
DNSKEY - DNS Public Key
DS - Delegation Signer
NSEC - Next Secure
Two header flags have also been added.
CD - Checking Disabled
AD - Authenticated Data
RFC 3833 describes the DNS and the threats to it along with DNSSEC. Most importantly, DNSSEC does not ensure confidentiality of data. It does not encrypt the data. Also, DDOS attacks are not prevented by this extension.
The public Internet registry maintains the .org domain. It is committed to implementing DNSSEC across all URLs that end with the suffix .org. The US government has also decided to use DNSSEC for all domains ending with .gov. With this kind of commitment, DNSSEC is soon to gain ground and become widely used.

Microsoft Office 2010: Will you bother to upgrade?
To upgrade or not to upgrade, that is the question for most of Microsoft's customers.
There were times when the latest release of a new version of a major Microsoft product was a huge catalyst for IT spending. Many IT managers will remember planning their strategy around the anticipated timings of future releases and the new functionality they promised. Microsoft's corporate licensing and pricing policy has traditionally been predicated on the expectation that users will upgrade at least once every three years.
But the reality of technology strategy today is very different - and since the disappointment that was Windows Vista, so are the attitudes of MCTS Training managers.
So what are the prospects for Office 2010? After Windows, this is the most used and most financially important product range in Microsoft's portfolio. While lower-cost alternatives such as Google Apps and Openoffice have made occasional inroads into the market, Office remains the de facto standard productivity suite for most organisations.
But let's face it, how often do your users come to you and say, "I really need Microsoft Word/Excel/Powerpoint/Outlook to have more functionality." Most people use only a fraction of the features in Office, so apart from the withdrawal of support for older versions, why go through the pain of upgrading?
Inevitably that will be a question asked by many IT leaders, and it is down to each individual situation to look at the new features and judge whether the business case stacks up.
For Microsoft however, it is a question that goes right to the heart of the product development strategy that has kept the company leading the market for 30 years.
Corporate IT is fed up with the endless version release cycle. In a world of cloud computing, nobody knows or cares - Google can roll out new features overnight; how many Certkingdom.com users are bothered what version they are on?
By the time Office 2010's successor arrives, the three-yearly upgrade concept will seem antiquated. This change in customer behaviour and expectation threatens Microsoft's dominance more than any new functionality improvements from its rivals MCITP Training.

MICROSOFT SKYDRIVE – FREE ONLINE STORAGE
The send of interpretation in in between PCs/Laptops for users is easier now than it has ever been. For e.g. many years ago when we had my Commodore 64 it was incredibly reckless to send report from appurtenance to appurtenance as they indispensable to be a same manufacturer, indication as well as have concordant peripherals MCTS Training. Modems were both singular as well as in their early stages so as a outcome we wound up saving a interpretation upon to a tape, afterwards possibly posting it to or exchanging it with a dictated target in person. Today things have been many different; irrespective of your mechanism pattern we can simply send report around a series of removable media sorts or otherwise now to any place in a universe over a Internet. There is no jealous which a Internet has revolutionised how we pierce interpretation as well as a singular following record now experiencing fast expansion is online personal storage. Physical media such as a peep coop expostulate is illusory nonetheless is not nonetheless a drawbacks. For example, it is so easy to leave during home when it will be indispensable or even worse if mislaid afterwards we not usually have to be concerned about a report being mislaid nonetheless additionally potentially descending in to a wrong hands. Online storage upon a alternative hand:* Secure ‘ The interpretation is stored safely as well as encrypted as well as entrance is postulated by a make make use of of of a password. * Is unstable – You can benefit entrance to your files from any appurtenance with an Internet connection. * Is giveaway ‘ A lot of these services have been definitely giveaway as well as many of a ones which aren’t embody a giveaway ‘lite’ package. * Is vast ‘ Even nonetheless a genius upon suggest might vary, storage for a couple of gigabytes of space have been sincerely standard. A great starting indicate for many would be a Microsoft SkyDrive service. Direct your browser to http://skydrive. live. com as well as we should be means to get starting rught away if we already have a Windows Live ID. This would have been set up in a past if we make make use of of an additional Microsoft online make use of such Hotmail, MSN Messenger or a little alternative Microsoft Service however if we do not nonetheless have a singular afterwards signup is giveaway as well as easy. Once we have logged in we will rught away be since entrance to 5GB value of storage space; this represents a aloft genius than many peep drives upon a market. There is a singular rsther than irritating reduction in which no singular record can surpass 50MB definition which vast videos as well as applications have been out of a picture. To get proposed only name a printed matter which has been combined already similar to ‘documents’, ‘photos’, ‘videos’ or even emanate your own. When in a printed matter click ‘add files’ afterwards begin selecting files upon your HDD which we wish to upload. You can see how many space is accessible upon a giveaway space indicator located to a left palm side of a screen MCITP Training. You can afterwards crop files upon your PC/laptop by starting behind to a Skydrive website as well as putting in your Windows Live ID sum again. IT Certification Training in the UK: What Advantage Does This Training Offer?
In today’s competitive business world, professionals with IT certification training are widely sought by UK businesses large and small. No longer is it adequate to have the sort of general knowledge conferred by a university degree.
